Canadian violin maker (listed in the Canadian Encyclopedia of Music) and researcher into classical Cremonese varnishes. Studied violin making with Joseph Vedral in The Netherlands in 1926. Immigrated to Canada in 1951, to Toronto. The second edition of his book in 2000 was edited and published by his pupil Henry Riedstra of Riedstra's Violin Shop, Kitchener, Ontario and his son Alfred Molenaar of Waterloo.
