David Finn has had over 15 solo exhibitions, including shows in New York, London, Milan, Hong Kong and Lund, Sweden. The recipient of fellowship grants from the Bemis Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, Finn holds the Rubin Fellowship in the Arts at Wake Forest University. He is a Professor of Art at Wake Forest where he has taught sculpture since 1987.
Finn began making small child –size bodies from newspaper and placing them in evocative installations, titled collectively Newspaper Children, in 1982. Living in NYC during the 80’s, he developed Masked Figures, a series of life-sized figures made of refuse materials and wearing painted masks.
