Patrice Valfré is born at Marseille (South of France) in 1958. Since his young age he has a passion for old ceramics. He made since 1989 research on Yixing teapot history and published a first private catalogue in 1996, then a bigger book in the year 2000. In 2001, he contributed and coorganised with the curators Jean-Marie Simonet and Chantal Kozyref, an exhibition at Bruxells in the museum "Pavillon chinois". A catalogue entitled "Yixing, l'art de la théière pourpre"has been published for this occasion. In the year 2007, he coproduce a documentary film "Yixing, the queen of teapots, jointly with Luc Bouéry. The same year, he was invited at Beijing for a lecture during the symposium and for the exhibition on Yixing teapots, hold at the Palace Museum .
