Antonio Sarabia was born in Mexico City, June 10, 1944. He received his early education there and completed his secondary studies in Guadalajara, Jalisco, at the Institute of Sciences, before returning to Mexico City to enter the Dept. of Communication Sciences at the Ibero-American University. His first short story, 'Paredes' (Walls), appeared shortly after, at age 23, in an anthology of young Mexican writers, published by Editorial Novaro. Ten years later, in 1978, Bellas Artes of Jalisco published his book of poems under the title 'Tres Pies al Gato' (Three Feet on the Cat). In 1981 he left Mexico for Europe and since then he has divided his time between Lisbon, Portugal, Paris, France, and Guadalajara, Mexico. In 1988, his first novel 'El Alba de la Muerte' (The Dawn of Death) was nominated finalist for the Diana-Novedades International Prize. He has one daughter, Monica Sarabia Smilgus, and one son, Bruno Rene Sarabia Cuzin. His work has been translated into french, italian, german, portuguese and Greek. He is represented by the Carmen Balcells Literary Agency of Barcelona, Spain.
