Mary Hazzard Floyd was born in McIntosh County, Georgia. She attend boarding school in Courthouse, followed by high school in Beaufort, South Carolina. She continued her education at home by tutor, then went to school in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1816, she married Col. Everard Hamilton at Fairfield Plantation, Camden Co., Georgia. She had eleven children. She was the author of A Little Family History, an in-depth account of the early Floyd family.
