John Fioravanti is an award-winning writer and veteran secondary school educator, with 35 years of experience in the classroom. His teaching career with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board was divided between two schools: St. Benedict in Cambridge, and St. David in Waterloo. In 1972 he graduated from the history program at St. Jerome's College, University of Waterloo.
Throughout his teaching career, John focused on developing research, analysis, and essay writing skills in his history classroom. This led to the publication of his first non-fiction work for student use, Getting It Right In History Class (Data Based Directions, 2002), along with an American version of the same title.
A Personal Journey To The Heart Of Teaching, his second non-fiction work, crystallizes the struggles, accomplishments, and setbacks experienced in more than three decades of effort to achieve excellence in his chosen field. In 2008, the book received a prestigious Independent Publisher Book Awards Bronze Medal.
John joins the Iceberg team to assist with editing, and to continue writing. Turning his efforts to fiction, he is presently at work on The Genesis Saga, a future drama series situated within Kenneth Tam's Equations universe. This series of novels explores the lives of the human characters on the planet Genesis, in the years between The Earther Equation and The Genesis Equation.
John lives in Waterloo, Ontario with Anne, his bride of 35 years, and their two dogs Buffy and Morley. When he's not renovating and maintaining his house, he's devouring novels of all genres. His children, Dianna (Fulsom), Daniel, and Dominic are threatening to bury him with his favourite novels.
