Jack Lonergan runs a specialist consultancy concerned with cross-cultural communication. He is a FRSA and FCIL, and posts held include President of the International Certificate Conference, a Council of Europe NGO; Director, Ministry of Defence Languages Examinations Board; and Joint Chief Inspector, British Council Accreditation Scheme. He was Professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Westminster, Visiting Professor at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, a consultant to Hanoi University, and an advisor to Xiamen Univeristy.. He was educated at Durham University (BA DipED) and Manchester University (MEd). Jack Lonergan is very aware of his origins in Thurles, Co Tipperary. He also plays second trombone in the Hemel Hempstead Band, an activity rarely witnessed by his wife and two sons.
