**Stephen H. Davis** (7 September 1939)

Stephen Davis is an American fluid dynamicist and '*Walter P Murphy*' Professor of Applied Mathematics and '*McCormick School (Institute)*' Professor resident for the Department of Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University, Illinois.

He earned his advanced education in New York at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with his B.E.E. in Electrical Engineering in 1960, his M.S. in Mathematics in 1962 and his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1964. He has produced over 200 publications since then.

He has been privileged to hold several posts at Northwestern University since 1988 when he was Chairman, Department of Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics (1988-1991), Professor of Mechanical Engineering (1979-1999, 2003-present), Professor of Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics (1979-present), and Director of the Center for Multiphase Fluid Flow and Transport (1986-1988).
