Edison on his vacation at Rawlings, WY at 29 Merchant at Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory at 30 Member of the Legislature, Wyoming Territory at 35 Sheriff at Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory at 35 Landed in the State of California on January 10, 1887 at 38 Bought a ranch in Calaveras County near Valley Springs (Messinger Ranch) where he intended to raise race horses. This venture was not successful (the horse died) so he moved his family, one boy & five girls to Sacramento and then to San Francisco. Sold men`s clothing for a wholesale company for 22 years. They were in San Francisco during the 1906 earthquake. They moved to Hayward and then to Oakland ( 5402 Ygnacio Avenue) in 1910 where he sold real estate. They lived in San Luis Obispo in 1890 when Florence was born. (Do not know the sequence of these moves) Died of Terminal Pneumonia
