Dr. Lonza Running Medicine "BO"Pagans ,Phd and the founder of THE SACRED CHILD, which offers educational and developmental spiritual workshops designed to bring together persons from a variety of spiritual beliefs to share in a safe, open, understanding and tolerate manner their teachings and faith. The hope is that evey one will develop the skills necessary to live in "mindfulness"
Dr. Pagans was born inVirginia as Lonza Ray Pagans Jr. Virginia in 1924 passed laws that on a birth/death certificate or marriage license people could not be listed as native american. Many native people in rural areas were not allowed to attend school and marriages by native american sur name and non native american sur names were not recognized as legal by Virginia. Even if native americans and non native americans where married in another state, Virginia did not recognize the marriage.
There was a great deal of racism and myth related to native american people. Not long after the law changed Dr. Pagans changed his name legally to Lonza Running Medicine Wolfe Pagans on all his documents. The name his elders had given to him.
Dr. Pagans has been an adjunct professor of psychology and a visting professor. He is Certified as a Natural Health Professional and Licensed by the Commomwealth Of Virginia as a Professional Counselor. Certified as a Certified Natural Health Professional by The Association of Certified Natural Health Professional. He was the co-founder of The Sacred Space and The Sacred Tree.
He published "The Me I Can Be" , which is influenced by his private counseling practice, education and his experiences growing up as a native american of mixed blood in Virginia. He also published " Return Of The Buffalo" and a number of articles and poems, as well as, being a free lance writer for the Rustburg Ledger. He was on the Board of Youth Service and Virginia Drug and Alcohol Programs. He was the priest of The Native American Church Of The Blue Ridge, which combined eastern woodland native american traditions with the teaching of CHRIST.
He recieved his Phd in Psychology from The Union Institute and his N.D. from the Trinity School Of Natural Health.
