Bill Nunes was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, and graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1957. He married Lorna Sanders of Collinsville in 1960. He taught social studies for 30 years at Bayless, Collinsville and Edwardsville high schools. He is listed in Who's Who both as an educator and school administrator. He started writing history books after he retired in 1994, producing one a year. He is the author of Coming of Age in East St. Louis, East St. Louis Remembered, East St. Louis Trivia Book, East St. Louis Postcard Book, East St. Louis: A year-by-year history, 62 Nationally Prominent East St. Louisans, Southern Illinois: an Illustrated History, Incredible Illinois, Illinois Crime, Illinois Trivia, Illinois in the Roarding Twenties, Southern Illinois: Amazing Stories from the Past, and the Big Book of St. Louis Nostalgia.
