Jeffrey Scott Longstaff: He graduated from Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies of Western Washington University, where he began his deep fascination with body movement in all areas of life. His primary focus has been Laban’s Choreutics (Space Harmony), which became the topic of his LMA certification project, “Theory and Practice of Volute Spatial Forms†(1987), MS thesis, “Moving in Crystals: A Continued Integration of Polyhedral Geometry with Rudolf Laban’s Choreutics towards its Use as a Choreographic Tool†(1988), and PhD thesis, “Cognitive Structures of Kinesthetic Space: Re-evaluating Rudolf Laban’s Choreutics in the Context of Spatial Cognition and Motor Control†(1996). Since then he was on the faculty at Trinity Laban in London for over 10 years and has given a variety of presentations at international conferences and made contributions to magazines and peer-reviewed journals.
